Liu Xia, a Chinese poet and artist who is married to a Nobel Peace Prize winner and political dissident Liu Xiaobo. She was placed under house arrest for eight years since her husband received the prize in 2010, even though she never committed a crime. In 2013, she secretly released a video of herself reading two poems under heavy surveillance. 

In one of her poems, Untitled, she describes herself as a tree that is hopeless about ever seeing a bird. The video was released in New York at a rally in support of her in 2014. The film hopes to visualize Liu Xia’s emotion and imagination while she was being detained and was suffering from depression.
